ABOUT KRISTY

I’m a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist (since 2002) dedicated to helping people and animals feel better in their bodies. I offer personalised treatments that support relaxation, recovery, and overall wellbeing.

My services include remedial, relaxation, sports massage, trigger point therapy, aromatherapy, and Reiki healing — all tailored to your individual needs.

I take a holistic approach, focusing on the body, mind, and energy to create lasting results in a calm, supportive environment.

I also offer Equine Tension Release Therapy (ETRT) for horses and canines, helping relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore balance naturally.

ETRT - EQUINE BODYWORK

Releasing tension • Restoring movement • Supporting the nervous system

Equine Tension Release Therapy (ETRT) is a gentle yet effective, non-invasive bodywork technique designed to release deep muscular tension and restore natural movement in the horse.

Using soft, targeted pressure and specific bodywork techniques, ETRT works with the horse’s nervous system to encourage the release of tightness, restriction, and stored stress within the body.

This form of treatment is based on modern forms of human Trigger Point Therapy, most especially Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction Syndrome Therapy, and the Neurostructural Integration Technique. The modality known as ‘Bowen Therapy’ has also been influential.

In this, ETRT uses most of the same key trigger points as those used in equine acupressure and shiatsu, which are forms of oriental medical practice.

Horses often hold tension as a result of training, injury, saddle fit, compensation patterns, or emotional stress. By addressing these underlying restrictions, ETRT can support improved comfort, mobility, performance, and overall wellbeing.

The main physiotherapeutic and physiological effects of performing ETRT are:

• Relieves muscle spasms and re-sets muscles to their normal levels of tension
• Re-establishes the structural integrity and mobility of the skeletal system
• Restores full blood supply to muscles previously in spasm
• Releases entrapped parts of the nervous system
• Activates the body’s endorphins processes to combat pain
• Removes uric and lactic acids and other wastes through improving lymphatic drainage
• Releases natural cortisone to aid reduction in swelling
• Improves willingness to work and concentration in training and performance
• Assists in enhancing the body’s immune system

Sessions are tailored to each horse, allowing the body to release at its own pace.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Relieve pain • Improve movement • Support recovery

Remedial massage focuses on identifying and treating muscular tension, tightness, and imbalances within the body.

Using a combination of techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and therapeutic Swedish massage, this approach works to reduce pain, improve circulation, and restore optimal function.

Remedial massage can also support rehabilitation after injury, helping to restore function to injured soft tissue, including muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

It can support a wide range of concerns, including:

• Muscle tightness and stiffness
• Postural imbalances
• Injury recovery
• Chronic pain and tension
• General maintenance and wellbeing

Benefits of massage may include:

• Assists in stress management
• Enhances mental awareness
• Stimulates local blood supply and lymphatic fluids
• Reduces levels of anxiety

Each session is tailored to the individual, helping to bring the body back into balance and support long-term physical health.

REIKI

Calm the nervous system • Restore energetic balance • Support healing

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing modality that works to support balance across the mind, body, and nervous system.

During a session, energy is channelled through light touch or hands placed just above the body, helping to calm the nervous system and encourage a state of deep relaxation.

Reiki, meaning Universal Life Force Energy, was named by Dr Mikao Usui of Kyoto, Japan. This hands-on approach to energy renewal was rediscovered over a century ago and works to support the body’s natural healing processes.

As the energy is activated, the brain wave pattern can slow down to the 8–10 hertz range, similar to a meditative state, supporting deep relaxation and a reduction in stress within the body.

Reiki is more than a physical healing modality — it also supports the mind, emotions, and spiritual awareness, helping to bring the body back into balance as a whole.

Reiki can assist in stress management, enhance mental awareness, and reduce levels of anxiety, while supporting overall wellbeing and recovery.

Reiki can support:

• Stress and anxiety
• Emotional imbalance
• Nervous system regulation
• Recovery and healing
• Overall wellbeing

Suitable for both humans and animals, Reiki works holistically — supporting the body’s natural ability to restore balance.

Trusted Practitioners & Holistic Support
To complement Equine Tension Release Therapy (ETRT), we highly recommend Equine Attunement and Evolve Mind-Body-Spirit who offer equine kinesiology and holistic healing sessions across the Central Coast. These sessions work with the body’s subconscious to identify and release stored emotional stress, supporting improved behaviour, movement, and nervous system balance in both horses and humans. Integrating physical bodywork with energetic and emotional therapies allows for a more complete and lasting healing outcome.
